British Birdwatching Fair: Thanks to everyone who visited our stand at the Bird Fair, it was great to see
new and old friends. We'll be back there in 2009, and further details will be available at the

Slovenia: Nigel spent an intersting weekend in Slovenia, where he managed to catch up with his last
remaining Eurpoean breeding species, Rock Partridge. In the company of Balazs and Attila from Ecotours, and John Overfield,
we tracked down many interesting species, and are putting together a tour for 2008 which will feature the
abovementioned Partridge, Pygmy & Tengmalm's Owls, Woodpeckers, Corncrake and other specialities of the area.

Slovakia: Our 2007 Slovakia weekend was a success, finding all of the sought-after owls and woodpeckers
with excellent views of Tengmalm's, Pygmy and Ural Owls, and Grey-headed, White-backed and Three-toed Woodpeckers. Other
interesting species included Goshawk, Saker, Imperial Eagle and we had an interesting watching local naturalists mist-netting bats.

Corsica: Our Corsica & Sardinia weekend trip went well, with good sightings of Corsican Nuthatch and Finch, as well as a
host of other species, including Marmora's and Dartford Warblers. Our trip in 2007 will follow this success, and is available to book now. |

|
Kenya: We had another excellent green-season trip to Kenya. This May, Brian magicked up over 700
species in 18 days, which is the highest we've ever had for this time of year. |

Sarus in the News and on TV!: But you probably won't have seen it, as it was in Japan.
Our birding steps on cold and snowy Hokkaido were dogged by journalists, and we had an official
welcome by the mayor of Nemuro City. Unfortunately, most of the group missed out on this
event due to being held up with Blakiston's Fish-owl (a highlight of the trip), but Chris got a chance
to show off his Japanese skills to a TV audience. Other trip highlights were over 12000 Hooded and
White-naped Cranes at Arasaki, the Red-crowned Cranes on Hokkaido, and of course, Steller's Sea Eagle. |
